If a camera is a mechanical eye, making a faithful record of the world, what happens when the machine is broken? What does the picture record?
I have a certain camera - an obsolete, and kind of broken Polaroid, that seems to work for me, but only at dusk. The pictures are always badly exposed, and out of focus, but vibrating with wierd energy that I enjoy. It’s never taken a decent picture any other time of day.
