OK folks, here it is. The original online version of Virtual Bubblewrap, the games that’s so exclusively cool, you probably can’t even load in your browser. It usually runs for me on Mac OSX, but sometimes Firefox just can’t handle a DCR that's nearly a decade old. Go figure. In the olden days, it worked really well in Netscape 2 with early versions of the shockwave plug-in, but don’t try that, because I built this page with CSS. So basically, this game works for me, sometimes Kevin, and maybe a few other people. If it works for you, you are very special.
Some background: This DCR was made in 1995-96 by Joey DeVilla, who is now Accordian Guy, but back then he was Mackerel’s head programmer. Even though he’s famous now, Joey still talks to us, and send us invites to his birthday parties. Joey has even made a stand-alone Windows version of VBW.
More background: the original original VBW was embedded as an Easter egg in the Mackerel Stack 2.0, circa 1993. It’s a Mac only SuperCard Stack, which, amazingly, still runs in Mac OS Classic. This was our company brochure, distributed on floppy disk in those halcyon days before the web. It was programmed by Karl Borst and Kevin Steele, and invented my me (ahem).
